Also from Wellington are a young, upcoming band Standing On Chairs. Earlier this year they self-released an album of indie synth/guitar pop that showed some real promise so I'm looking forward to the 5 track EP they're currently working on. Their self-titled album is available as a free high bit-rate download from NZ music download store Sellmates.

Hamilton isn't the place that you would first think of as being the home of a dub band but that's where Knights of the Dub Table hail from. They've just released a digital EP featuring their song 'Sing it to Me' along with remixes by a Who's Who of the NZ downbeat scene - Tiki Taane, Optimus Gryme and Australian based New Zealanders The Versionaries. The whole EP is available as a free download from Amplifier.
I started with Psychic Powers which features Nik Brinkman, one half of Over The Atlantic. The other half is Bevan Smith who also has a solo project Signer. He makes electronic based music that is too off-kilter to be truly ambient bringing in elements of post-rock and the indie he played before he turned to the laptop. Signer has a new album Next We Bring You The Fire out late November. The song 'Languidly Toot' from the album is available as a free download from A Low Hum. There are a collection of Signer videos on the video page.
